Moose Stats
Despite their size and ability to run quickly for short distances, moose mainly fall prey to wolves, black bears and grizzly bears. Some population studies have shown that bears can kill up to 75 percent of newborns in their first eight weeks of life.

Public boat access is less than a mile for those that enjoy summer boating on Moosehead Lake's 20 mile by 40 mile clear, blue waters. There is plenty of fishing on Prong Pond, which is walking distance from the cabin.

Springtime offers a chance to see wildlife from birds, bear, fox, porcupine, and the mighty moose.

Fall is beyond written description. My daughter's comment the first October we spent in the Moosehead Lake region says it all when she stated, "I now know where Crayola gets all their ideas".

Winter is a paradise for snowmobilers and skiers. Snowmobile right out of the cabin's front door and connect with the ITS where you have access to hundreds of miles of trails. If you ski, you can step outside and see the Big Moosehead Ski resort (formerly Big Squaw) from the front porch looking west.
